What Is The Licensing Process?

The process includes completion of an application for solicitors, peddlers, and canvassers.  You will need to bring the application with you or complete one in-person at the Office of Consumer Affairs. Also, have with you a government issued identification, proof of automobile insurance, and copy of the solicitation material to be provided to consumers.  Licensing hours are 8:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday. After completing the application, you will be required to obtain, at your expense, a BCI background check at the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

There is a ten day waiting period before the license is issued.  Once your license has been approved, the Office of Consumer Affairs will contact you to pick up your license.  At that time, a $35 payment is due by money order or personal check and made payable to the County of Summit Office of Consumer Affairs.
